Girl meets world fanfic maya
Maya Hart had a secret. It was one of those that you should be ashamed of, but Maya wasn't. The only reason she hid it was the fear of being forced to stop. Right now she sat in the bathtub, fiddling with her favorite razor blade.

The way they were standing and the expressions on their faces. Farkle upright and alert, glancing nervously at both Riley and Charlie. Charlie, angry and tense, eyes boring in on Riley. That was not the Riley she knew. Charlie was the first one to see them approach. His face broke into an angry sneer that looked totally out of place on him. But it was Farkle who stepped toward them and spoke first.
Lucas spoke for the both of them. What secrets? Maya felt her uneasiness grow, a ball of fear settling in her stomach as she stared at the motionless figure of her best friend from behind.
But Maya understood right away. Her heart sank as she closed her eyes. Oh no, Riley. It was all she could do to keep her voice steady. A pause. Then a whisper from Maya, bittersweet in tone. Riley smiled sadly to herself at the inside joke. She had to face her friends. She owed them that much. It felt like an eternity for Riley as she slowly turned to face them. The boy with emerald eyes, the white knight from the South who had stormed into her life too soon and trampled all over her barely formed heart.
She saw realization dawn over his face as he dropped his head, finally understanding the ramifications of what was happening. Then the girl with eyes as blue as the Pacific. Not tonight though. Those eyes were now clouded with a dozen different emotions all warring inside her. For one long and awkward moment, the three of them just stood there, forming a triangular tableau. Why did you encourage me to explore my feelings for him? Why did you say i was like a brother to you?
Why did you lie to us? It was too much. She swiped at the tears forming in her eyes and without another word, she fled. She was fairly sprinting by the time she reached the door to the rooftop. Charlie shook his head, his angry sneer deepening even more. What are you gonna do? Act like a crazy roid rage meathead and hit me?
That bitch just played me. Maya could see his hands rolled into fists and she moved quickly, instinctively, to grab his right forearm, both of her arms encircling it, and placed her forehead lightly against his shoulder. She felt him react to her touch, the most intense physical intimacy since their almost kiss in Texas a month earlier. And it worked. She had always known, in the back of her mind, that she had the power to quell the fury that sometimes leaked past his Mr.
Perfect shell. She felt the tension release from his body, almost like an exhaled breath. And when she looked up tentatively, his face was so close to her, looking down at her with unabashed wonder and a deep, abiding affection. The realization hit her in the gut, and for a second, she saw everything she could ever have with him, a future that shined brighter than anything else she had known in this life.
And then it was Maya and him on top of the roof, standing next to each other, looking out at the vast expanse of the New York skyline. He had experienced these gorgeous city views for awhile now, but they never lost their appeal. Maybe they reminded him of possibility, doorways to the future that were wide open, if only he had the courage to walk through them.
It made an appropriately woeful sound, a pitiful attempt to raise the flagging spirits of the two remaining erstwhile partygoers. Maya smiled in spite of the situation, appreciating his lame attempt at humor. They smiled shyly at each other, as they both recalled the awkwardness of their first official date. And just like that, Lucas could see one door of possibility threatening to close right in front of his face.
It was a door that had opened just the slightest bit, and only very recently. She was so excited. Lucas was scrambling to save this sinking ship. If we ever were. Maya shook her head. I saw how you acted with Charlie during the couples game. Riley is a complete wreck right now. And we did that to her. She reached out and grabbed his shoulder. Tears glistened in her eyes. And if you still have these feelings for her, she needs to know that too. Lucas only looked her, his face and his heart torn in half.
He recognized the truth in her words and his brain told him he had to go and figure out this stuff with Riley first. But his feet would not budge.
They were rooted to the ground. Maya filled the silence, responding to the question that hung in the air between them. I used to wake up every day with this giant hole in my heart. And I have so much to be thankful for.
My mom and Uncle Shawn. My dearest Riley and the Matthews. Perfect had never looked so naked and so vulnerable. The silence spun out between them as seconds passed one by one. Finally, Maya could hold out no longer. The tears were close again, and the last thing she wanted was to break down sobbing in front of him. He buried his face in her hair and embraced her for as long as he could.
Then a soft parting kiss from Lucas, placed gently on the top of her head, and he was gone. The room was rocking as the kids and their parents counted down.
Drinks in hand, noisemakers, music playing, tv blaring. Outside, fireworks were already going off. Lucas and Riley were oblivious to the raucous celebration.
They were a cocoon of togetherness, huddled next to each other in front of the living room bay window. Riley was talking animatedly, even laughing through her tears. Lucas placed a comforting arm around her shoulders, smiling at her story. A stranger watching them would be hard pressed to figure out the status of their relationship. Were they a couple? Were they just friends? Maybe for them, all that mattered was that in this moment, they were together.
The doorbell rang, barely audible above the din of the party. Cory maneuvered his way to the door, opening it. It was midnight. The fireworks lit up the night sky, making it come alive with light and color. Down on the street below, several groups of partygoers had merged into one big crowd, and had begun a surprisingly melodic rendition of Auld Lang Syne. Just like in the movies.

The laugh escaped Riley in a burst - a loud noise, but a happy one all the same. The joke had long since been told, but she still seemed to find it hilarious. The hallway was vacant as they ambled down it, arms linked in a twist that sent calm to their nerves as they dodged classroom windows and ducked out of sight of hall monitors. There had been far less good grades and fewer sleepovers.
Dinner was a lot different now that Shawn lived with them in a whole new apartment. And we just went over notes in Chemistry so it was really easy and relaxed. Lunch was great, as usual ever since they got that new lunch lady. And Mr.
